MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (October 1, 2019) – The Stonehill College volleyball team was defeated in three-straight sets by Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern New Hampshire University Tuesday night at SNHU Fieldhouse with set scores of 22-25, 9-25, and 21-25.

Stonehill's (8-4, 1-1 NE10) Basia Peragine led the team with seven kills, while junior Sophia Poveda recorded 13 digs. Sophomore Carly Russell tallied two aces in the match, while four Skyhawks tallied a block each.

The Skyhawks had the higher hitting percentage in the first set, a .219 hitting clip, to the Penmen's .188 hitting percentage, but Southern N.H. came out on top with a 25-22 victory. Stonehill tied the game three times including at 22-22 but Southern N.H. tallied three-straight kills for the win.

The Penmen had the advantage with a five-point lead in the second set, 6-1, but following a timeout, the Skyhawks went on a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to one, 6-7. Southern N.H. then capitalized on a .323 hitting percentage as they went on a 19-3 run to take set two, 25-9.

Stonehill trailed within one for most of the third set, but the Penmen came up on top to win their first NE10 match of the season with a 25-21 third game victory.

Stonehill will host Molloy College on Saturday, October 5 for their Dig Pink Game with a 2:00 p.m. start time.
