PLEASANTVILLE, New York (November 3, 2018) – The Stonehill College volleyball team wrapped up the season with a 3-1 victory over Northeast-10 Conference foe Pace University (20-9, 8-6 NE10) on Saturday afternoon with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, and 25-23.
For the Skyhawks (11-11, 7-7 NE10), saw Allyson Hughes with a match-high 19 kills and a .325 hitting percentage. Sophia Poveda chipped in 15 digs and four aces, for a match high. Junior Rachel Dunlavy registered a career-high 29 digs, as freshman Lauren Wilke notched her 10th double-double of the season with 48 assists and 12 digs, along with her three aces and three blocks. Senior Meg Pennino registered her season-high in blocks tallying a match-high six.
Both teams fought back and forth in the beginning of the first set, as the Setters finally broke the game open with a three-point lead, 9-6. Stonehill responded with a 7-0 run, picking up a four-point advantage, 13-9, and Pace was only able to cut the deficit to two, 20-22, before the Skyhawks took the first victory with a 3-1 run, 25-21.

Stonehill saw the best hitting percentage of the match in the second set averaging .394. The Skyhawks quickly got out to an eight-point lead, 12-4, but the Setters would not go down without a fight as they came within three, 12-15. Stonehill expanded the lead back to eight, 20-12, and maintained the advantage until the end for a 25-20 set two victory.
The Skyhawks saw the early advantage in the third set, 5-3, but the Setters reversed the momentum and capitalized on a 10-3 run for a five-point lead, 13-8. Pace continued holding the lead in the third frame, as Stonehill closed the gap to one, 18-19, and the Setters responded with five-straight points, 24-18. The Skyhawks scored four-straight points to come within two again, 24-22, but the Setters secured the game with the final kill, 25-22.
Stonehill held the lead throughout the fourth game, but Pace was able to tie the set three times before the Skyhawks saw a kill by Hughes and an ace by Dunlavy for the final two points of the match, 25-23.
Stonehill concluded its regular season by just missing out on a playoff appearance, with their 11-11 overall record and a 7-7 NE10 mark.
