Career Highs Send Volleyball Over Franklin Pierce, 3-1

Hughes totaled 24 kills for a match and career high

RINDGE, New Hampshire (September 22, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team fought hard against Northeast-10 Conference foe Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon topping the Ravens, 3-1, with set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 26-24, and 26-24.   

For the Skyhawks (6-5, 2-1 NE10), senior Allyson Hughes registered a career and match high 24 kills, while freshmen Clare Feeman and Abby Remick each contributed their season highs of 16 and 13 kills, respectively. Freshman setter Lauren Wilke registered her fifth double-double recording a career-high 58 assists and 14 digs, while Remick added in 10 digs for her second-career double-double. Rachel Dunlavy and Sophia Poveda tallied 13 and 10 digs, respectively in the victory.

Stonehill grabbed the first point of the match, 1-0, but Franklin Pierce quickly took over for a two-point advantage, 12-10. The Skyhawks fought back with a 10-5 run for a three-point advantage, its highest of the frame, 20-17, while the Ravens continued battling closing the gap to one, 23-24, once again, but Stonehill took set point with a kill from Hughes, 25-23.


Feeman chipped in a season-high 16 kills in the victory

Franklin Pierce went on an 8-3 run in the second set, but Stonehill scored five-straight points to knot the frame at eight, 8-8. The set was tied five more times, 20-20, before the Ravens went on a 5-3 run to tie the match with one set apiece with a 25-23 second set score.

Once again, the Ravens took the advantage in the third set, but Stonehill came from behind, 18-19, with an 8-5 run to get on top of Franklin Pierce, 26-24.

The Ravens saw the highest hitting percentage of the match in the fourth set, .324, along with the lead for most of the frame. Stonehill once again battled back, this time with a four-point deficit, 16-20, and was able to come up on top to take match point, 26-24, with a 10-2 run.

Stonehill battles NE10 Conference foe Bentley University on Friday, September 28 with a start time of 6:00 p.m., and follow it up with another Conference matchup against Saint Michael's College on Saturday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. for its Purple & White Match.
