EASTON, Mass. (November 29, 2017) – Stonehill College volleyball senior Katherine DeLanty (Smithtown, New York/Smithtown West) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-East Region team for the first time in her career, as announced by the organization Wednesday.

DeLanty earns her first All-East Region honor after posting career numbers in four categories, including kills per set (3.02), aces per set (0.25), digs per set (1.61), and blocks per set (0.94). This is the first time since 2014 that Stonehill has had someone named to the regional team, when Emily Iverson '15 and Delia Phillips '16 were both tabbed on the team during their senior and junior years, respectively.

DeLanty, a middle blocker, finished her collegiate career as an all-around player for the Skyhawks, as she recorded impressive numbers in all categories this season as she was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference second team, for her first honor with the Conference. The senior averaged 3.02 kills per set for second on the team, while she also notched a .247 hitting percentage, good for first on the team. She also registered 0.25 aces per set to lead the team and 1.61 digs per set, good for fifth on the team. Lastly, she averaged 0.94 blocks per set this year, for an all-time high for her with 91 total blocks this season bringing her total to 292 blocks in four years.

DeLanty's named will be etched in Stonehill's record books: fourth in block assists and fifth in total blocks

The native of Smithtown, New York finished the season also ranked in the conference in multiple categories, including fourth in blocks per set, ninth in kills per set, 11th in hitting percentage, and 44th in aces. This year alone, she has recorded five double-doubles, for seven total in four years, and 18 matches with double-digit kills, for 46 total matches with double-digit kills.

The NE10 honored her one week as Co-Player of the Week in October, as she helped the team to a 2-1 week with 3-0 wins over Assumption College and Southern Connecticut State University. She also chipped in 15 kills and 17 digs in a hard fought battle in a 3-2 loss against LIU Post.

During her four years in the Purple and White, DeLanty has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, while she has also been tabbed on the Skyhawk Invitational All-Tournament Team last season. The 2014 graduate of Smithtown High School West will graduate in May with a degree in healthcare administration and her name will be etched in the Stonehill College volleyball all-time leaderboard in the top 10 in total blocks and block assists.

Stonehill wrapped up its 2017 season with a 12-15 overall mark and an 8-6 NE10 record. The Skyhawks finished the regular season as the fifth seed and made it to the NE10 Tournament Semifinals for the ninth time in program history.
