EASTON, Mass. (December 1, 2014) – Stonehill College senior setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Illinois/York) and junior outside hitter Delia Phillips (St. James, New York/Smithtown East) have both earned All-East Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), it was announced today.

Ten days after the duo was recognized by Daktronics with selections to the All-East Region first (Iverson) and second (Phillips) teams, the Stonehill co-captains have been honored with the second AVCA All-East Region accolades of their careers.

Iverson, an AVCA All-East Region selection as a freshman in 2011, was named Northeast-10 Conference Player and Setter of the Year this fall after racking up 1107 assists (1st in NE-10) for an average of 10.16 per set. The Elmhurst, Illinois native also recorded 2.05 digs and 0.69 kills per frame to go with 39 service aces (T-5th in NE-10), 26 total blocks and a team-leading .253 attack percentage.

The four-time All-NE-10 performer finished her career as the program's all-time assists leader with a total of 4246. She became the first setter in program history to rack up over 1000 assists in a single season as a freshman, and also eclipsed the 1000-assist mark as a sophomore and senior. The only season in which Iverson did not reach 1000 was 2013, when she was limited to career-lows in both matches (19) and sets (71) due to injury.

She produced nine double-doubles (10+ assists/10+ digs) this fall, and eclipsed the 50-assist mark in five matches. Iverson's career totals include 4246 assists (10.31/set), 902 digs (2.19/set), 257 kills (0.62/set), 96 service aces (0.23/set), and 94 total blocks (0.23/set) in 110 matches and 412 sets.

Iverson has also excelled in the classroom, earning NE-10 Honor Roll status on five occasions and Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition four times. In addition, she collected a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award as a sophomore in 2012.

A 2011 graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, Iverson was a two-year varsity player, serving as team captain for her mother, head coach Patty Iverson. She was a two-time Academic All-Conference selection, earning All-Conference and All-Area honors as well.

Junior Delia Phillips earned her second consecutive AVCA All-East Region selection this fall after leading Stonehill with 3.34 kills per set.

Phillips, who became Stonehill's third AVCA All-East Region selection in program history last fall, followed up her breakout sophomore season with an impressive junior campaign. The St. James, New York native earned her second consecutive All-NE-10 first team nod to go with a pair of All-East Region honors after averaging 3.34 kills (3rd in NE-10) and 2.71 digs per set in addition to 26 service aces and 26 total blocks (four solo).

Phillips turned in 13 double-double performances (10+ kills/10+digs) in 29 matches this season, including a 22-kill, 17-dig effort in Stonehill's 3-1 win over Southern New Hampshire University in the NE-10 Tournament quarterfinals. She also produced a career-high 25 kills in a 3-2 win over Le Moyne College on November 7th.

Through the end of her junior campaign, Phillips' career totals include 882 kills (2.97/set), 725 digs (2.44/set), 80 total blocks (16 solo- 0.27/set), 70 service aces (0.24/set), and 48 assists (0.16/set) with a .184 attack percentage. She has also gotten the job done academically, earning NE-10 and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status all four semesters at Stonehill.

A 2012 graduate of Smithtown East High School in St. James New York, Phillips was a four-year letterwinner and varsity starter for head coach George Alamia. As a senior, she earned All-State second team honors and helped lead Smithtown East to a Long Island Championship and a third place finish in the state volleyball tournament.

Iverson and Phillips are the only two student-athletes in the history of the volleyball program to be named to the AVCA All-East Region team twice. Former Skyhawk captain Sydney Maxey, '14, joined Iverson as the first two selections in program history in 2011.

Stonehill (21-8, 11-3 NE-10) earned a share of its first NE-10 regular season title this fall en route to the second seed in the NE-10 Tournament. The Skyhawks advanced to the semifinal round for the second consecutive season and fourth time in the last five years, before earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.
