Iverson Tabbed As NE-10 Setter Of The Week

Junior earns weekly award for sixth time in career

EASTON, Mass. (October 1, 2013) – Stonehill College junior setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Setter of the Week for the sixth time in her career at Stonehill and first time in 2013.

Last week, Iverson led Stonehill to a 2-1 record, averaging 11.62 assists and 1.75 digs per set in eight sets for the Skyhawks. She also contributed six kills and one block. In Stonehill's three set win over NE-10 rival Saint Anselm, Iverson tallied 24 assists with two kills and two digs. The junior followed that performance up with a 37 assist, 7 dig, four kill effort at Dominican College, and closed out the week with 32 assists and five digs at the New York Institute of Technology.

Iverson has averaged 10.75 assists per set in 28 frames this year, which would be good for the top spot in the NE-10, but Iverson missed time at the start of the season due to injury and therefore does not qualify as a leader in statistical categories yet.

Last season, Iverson averaged 10.43 assists per set, good for second in the NE-10 and 35th overall in Division II. She was named NE-10 Setter of the Week once, on September 18th.

As a freshman, Iverson was an AVCA All-East Region selection, as well as NE-10 Rookie of the Year and NE-10 All-Conference First Team member. She played in all 126 sets for the Skyhawks, becoming the first setter in Stonehill history to record 1000 assists in a single season. Iverson averaged 10.44 assists per set as a freshman, and was named NE-10 Setter of the Week four separate times.

Stonehill (9-5, 2-1 NE-10) will take on Saint Michael's College on Friday afternoon, and Southern New Hampshire University next Tuesday night, both road matches, before heading to Palm Beach, Fla., next Friday for three matches as part of the Pepsi Bash at the Beach tournament. Stonehill will be back at Merkert Gym on Friday, October 18th, when it hosts Franklin Pierce University on Alumni & Family Weekend.
