Iverson tabbed to second team, Kelly selected to third team

EASTON, Mass. (November 15, 2012) – Two members of the Stonehill College women's volleyball team have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) as selected by the league's 16 head coaches, it was announced earlier today.

Sophomore setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) has been named to the NE-10 All-Conference second team while senior captain and libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) earned a selection to the third team.

Iverson engineered a Skyhawks attack that currently ranks second in kills per set (12.88) and sixth in hitting percentage (.190) in the NE-10 with 1,106 assists (10.4 per set) in 106 sets played this season. Iverson is currently second in the Conference and 34th nationally in the assists per set category.

Iverson, who collects her second-career All-Conference award, led Stonehill in double-doubles this season with 16 total in 28 matches played. She will enter her junior campaign with an eight game double-double streak intact. Defensively, Iverson averaged 2.56 digs per set (271 total) over the course of the season which ranks 37th overall in the NE-10.

The sophomore setter also posted 50 or more assists in four matches this year and recorded 40 or more assists in 14 games. In addition, Iverson handed out a season-high 55 assists on three different occasions.

Kelly picks up her second-career NE-10 All-Conference honor after being named to the second team a season ago. Kelly led the Skyhawks backline averaging 4.50 digs per set in 105 sets played. Kelly currently ranks sixth overall in the NE-10 and 87th nationally in that category.

Kelly recorded her 1,000th career dig against Queens (N.Y.) College on September 15, 2012 in a 3-1 victory on the road at the Bentley University Invitational. For her efforts throughout the tournament, Kelly was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Kelly compiled 20 or more digs eight times this season and recorded her career-high in the category with 29 total versus Pace University on October 26. Kelly also contributed offensively with 76 assists, a team-high 42 service aces and a .929 serve-receive percentage on 510 attempts, second on the team.

The senior libero and captain finishes her career at Stonehill with 400 sets played, 19 kills, 525 assists, 174 service aces, 1,360 digs and four blocks (two solo).

Kelly has also been a standout in the classroom earning the St. Thomas Aquinas Medal for the volleyball program, several selections to the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls, two NCAA Division II ADA Academic Achievement awards and one selection to the NE-10 Academic All-Conference team.

Stonehill (13-15, 7-8 NE-10) concluded its season yesterday against the University of New Haven Chargers with a 3-2 loss in the quarterfinal round of the NE-10 Volleyball Championships. It was the Skyhawks third-straight appearance in conference postseason play.
