Kelly Earns NE-10 Molten Libero Of The Week Honors

Senior collects third weekly honor of the season

EASTON, Mass. (October 2, 2012) – Stonehill College senior co-captain and libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Molten Libero of the Week, it was announced earlier today.

Kelly led the Skyhawks defense in a 2-1 week overall as she averaged 5.82 digs per set (64 total) and a .960 serve-receive percentage (75 attempts, three errors). The co-captain posted her season-highs in digs twice on the week with 25 against the University of Bridgeport (9/25) and again versus Southern Connecticut State University (9/30). Kelly also aided the offense with eight assists and a team-high seven service aces.

Kelly, who collects her third weekly honor this season and third overall in her career, currently ranks fifth overall in the NE-10 in digs per set at 4.47. Kelly also checks in at seventh overall in total digs (219) and 17th overall in aces per set (219). Kelly's three Molten Libero of the Week awards leads all players in the conference.

In 344 sets played during her career at Stonehill, Kelly has compiled 1,106 digs for a 3.22 digs per set average and 152 aces for an average of 0.44 per set. Kelly reached the 1,000-career dig plateau earlier this season on September 15 with 18 digs in a 3-1 victory against Queens (N.Y.) College.

Kelly has also excelled academically at the College as she earned the St. Thomas Aquinas Medal award in 2011 along with selections to the NE-10 Academic All-Conference team, NE-10 Commissioner's honor roll and Athletic Director's honor roll. The St. Thomas Aquinas Medal is given to student-athletes who compile the highest cumulative grade point average on their respective teams through the Fall 2011 semester.

Stonehill (8-6, 3-2 NE-10) hosts New York Institute of Technology on Friday, October 5 at 5:00 p.m. in Merkert Gymnasium on "Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Night."
