NE10 Announces Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Award Recipients

EASTON, Massachusetts (April 8, 2020) – Stonehill College freshman Haley Lightbody has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Rookie of the Year for the 2019-20 indoor track & field season by the league's head coaches.

Lightbody is just the second from the Stonehill track & field program to earn Indoor Field Rookie of the Year, joining Courtney Daggett '19 who earned the honors after the 2015-16 indoor season. The NE10 started awarding the Field Rookie of the Year for indoor track & field in 2014.

Lightbody, a three-time NE10 Field Rookie of the Week during the indoor season, scored in the two events that she competed in at the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. She posted season bests in each of the events, earning the individual title in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet, 9.75 inches, just .25-inches shy of the school record. She also placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 6.25 inches, which she matched from the two weeks before which she jumped at the URI Coaches Tribute Invitational.

Lightbody, who competed in eight meets in his first collegiate season, qualified for New England Championships where she finished eighth out of 23 in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, 7.75 inches. With her season best height at the NE10 Championships in the pole vault, her mark bypassed the NCAA provisional mark.

Stonehill concluded the indoor season with their seventh-straight NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championship, where the women have now won 14-straight Championships with cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field. Over the past 20 NE10 Championships, the Stonehill women have won 19 of them.
