Women’s Track & Field Concludes Indoor Season at BU Last Chance Invitational

Freeman clocks in new school record for 1000-meter run

BOSTON, Mass. (February 28, 2020) – Stonehill College women's track and field sent six to the Boston University Last Chance Invitational, hosted by BU at the Terrier's Track & Tennis Center Friday afternoon.

Senior Alyssa Freeman ran the 1000-meter run clocking in a time of 2:55.56, breaking the school record from 2010 that Jill Alves '12 held with a time of 2:56.24. Freeman finished third in her heat and then sixth out of 12 overall as she was the only competitor from Division II.

Senior Jordan Callahan clocked in a personal best time of 10:14.58 placing seventh in her heat and 18th overall out of 30 competitors. This was 21 seconds faster than her previous personal best time.

After finishing second in her heat of the 60-meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 8.97-seconds and qualifying for finals, senior Zoe Smith clocked in a time of 9.03-seconds during finals for a final placement of fourth overall.

Freshman Haley Lightbody and senior Ashley Colarusso both cleared a height of 11 feet, 5.75 inches. Lightbody cleared it on her first try taking home fourth, as Colarusso was able to get over the bar on her second attempt at the height finishing fifth.

Senior Madison Ward placed fourth as the second competitor from Division II in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 3 inches, clearing it on her third attempt.

Stonehill is now off until Saturday, March 28, when they open the outdoor season with the River Hawk Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell at the Cushing Field Complex.
