Women’s DMR, Lightbody Earn All-New England on Day One of Championship

Skyhawks earn one individual and one relay All-New England honor


Lightbody earned her first All-New England honor with a new personal best height in pole vault. 

ROXBURY, Massachusetts (January 31, 2020) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team saw one individual and one relay team earn All-New England honors on day one of the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track Center.  

Highlights:

  • In the first go at the 4000-distance medley relay this season, Jordan Callahan, Claire Hurtado, Claire Mason, and Jillian Howard took home an All-New England finish, placing eighth out of 15 teams, for All-New England honors. The quartet clocked in a time of 12:17.84, as the second Division II team and this time currently sits second on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list. Callahan led the relay team with an unofficial time of 3:45.6 1200-meter leg, as Hurtado followed with an unofficial time of 61.2-seconds in the 400-meter second leg. Mason ran the 800-meter third leg with an unofficial time of 2:23.3, as Howard was the anchor mile leg clocking in an unofficial time of 5:07.7.
  • Freshman Haley Lightbody earned her first All-New England honor with an eighth-place finish in the pole vault. The freshman crushed her previous mark and cleared a new personal best mark of 11 feet, 7.75 inches as the first Division II competitor.
  • Sophomore Siobhan O'Keefe ran a time of 17:58.97 in the 5000-meter run, as she crossed the finish line first in her heat. Overall 31 competitors, she was the second competitor from Division II and she finished 10th. She is currently third on the NE10 performance list.
  • Both senior Zoe Smith and sophomore Savanna Macaluso qualified for the 60-meter hurdles semifinal event tomorrow. Smith ran the preliminary round in a time of 8.95-seconds, good for ninth place, while Macaluso ran the event in 9.23-seconds, good for 16th out of 30 competitors. Smith was the fastest Division II competitor.

Other Highlights:

  • Junior Casey Gannon clocked in a time of 9.35-seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 21st out of 31 competitors.
  • Senior Ashley Colarusso cleared 10 feet, 8 inches in the pole vault to finish 19th overall.
  • Senior Jesica Litwa threw the weight throw a distance of 48 feet, 5.25 inches. She finished 21st out of 24 competitors.

Stonehill will send another handful of student-athletes to day two of the New England Championships tomorrow, Saturday, February 1 with a start time of 10:00 a.m.
