Lightbody Earns Second NE10 Field Rookie of the Week Honor

EASTON, Massachusetts (January 29, 2020) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team saw freshman Haley Lightbody earn her second Northeast-10 Conference Field Rookie of the Week award.  

Lightbody assisted the team to a second-place finish at the USM Open II meet, hosted by the University of Southern Maine this weekend. The team totaled 143 points for the runner-up mark, while Assumption College was the first-place team with 149.5 points.

The freshman totaled 12 points as she competed in the pole vault and long jump. In her fourth meet of her collegiate career, Lightbody jumped a distance of 17 feet, 0.5 inches in the long jump for a personal best. She placed third overall out of 26 competitors. Her long jump mark is eighth on the NE10 performance list.

The Reading, Massachusetts native also competed in the pole vault where she also finished third out of 21 competitors with a height of 10 feet, 8 inches. Her pole vault mark is currently first on the NE10 performance list.

Previously Lightbody was named NE10 Field Rookie of the Week after qualifying for the New England Championship with her mark of 11 feet, 1.75 inches at the Sorlien Memorial Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island last weekend. Her personal best is currently 21st on the New England Championship performance list.

Those that have qualified will compete at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, January 31 – Saturday, February 1 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
