Women’s Track & Field Sends Eight to Terrier Classic

Callahan clocks in a personal best time in the 5000-meter run

BOSTON, Massachusetts (January 24, 2020) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team sent eight to the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center, hosted by Boston University.

Highlights:

  • In one of the 10 sections of the mile, senior Alyssa Freeman crossed the finish line first with her personal best time of 5:07.86, while sophomore Siobhan O'Keefe placed fifth with a personal best time of 5:08.90. Overall Freeman finished 41st out of 126, while O'Keefe took 46th.
  • Junior Jillian Howard competed in the 3000-meter run, where she clocked in a time of 10:18.84. She placed 64th out of 135 competitors, as she took sixth in her heat. This time qualified for the New England Championships and it was a personal best time of over 11 seconds.
  • Senior Jordan Callahan ran in the 5000-meter race, where she clocked in a time of 18:10.43, taking third in her heat. Her time overall placed her 45th out of 72 competitors. This time qualified her for the New England Championships as she clocked in a personal best time of just over 10 seconds.
  • In the 60-meter hurdles invitational section, senior Zoe Smith finished 18th out of 27 competitors with a time of 9.14-seconds, while sophomore Savanna Macaluso finished 22nd with a time of 9.26-seconds.
  • Junior Casey Gannon took home ninth out of 53 in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.31-seconds, while sophomore Abigail Creamer finished 16th with her time of 9.45-seconds. Creamer matched her personal best time, as she clocked in the same time at the Beantown Challenge when the team came back from break.

Stonehill sends the rest of the team to the USM Open II, hosted by the University of Southern Maine tomorrow, Saturday, January 25.
