Accusplit Honors Top Relay Teams From 2018 

EASTON, Mass. (December 14, 2018) – Stonehill College women's track and field 4x1500-meter relay team, consisting of Emily Knox '18, Elizabeth HannonAnna Lastra, and Alyssa Freeman was recognized on Thursday by Accusplit as one of the best collegiate relay teams from the 2018 season.

Accusplit, the leader in the professional stopwatch and timing industry since 1972, will recognize the nation's best collegiate relay teams and their coaches at the 2018 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa from December 17-20. Accusplit Relay Awards are given to those relay teams that ran the fastest times in their respective outdoor relay events.

Stonehill was the only Northeast-10 Conference school recognized in Division II, while Saint Augustine's University and Augustana (S.D.) University saw two women's relay teams recognized and Texas A&M – Kingsville saw two men's teams honored.

For Stonehill, Knox, Hannon, Lastra, and Freeman helped open up the outdoor season at the 53rd Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia, hosted by the College of William & Mary. The quartet competed in the 4x1500-meter relay, where they faced off against 10 Division I schools and one other Division II institution in Jefferson (Pa.). Monmouth University took home the event title clocking in a time of 18:37.52, as the Skyhawks finished in sixth overall with a time of 19:18.81.

The prior day, all four competitors competed in the 1500-meter race, where Knox finished 19th out of 88 competitors with a time of 4:39.45, Hannon finished in 43rd with a time of 4:45.47, Lastra clocked in a time of 4:45.75, good for 45th, and Freeman finished 63rd crossing the finish line in 4:51.95.

Stonehill is now off until after the New Year and will resume their indoor schedule with the Beantown Challenge, hosted by Harvard University at the Gordon Indoor Track in Cambridge, Massachusetts from Friday, January 11 to Saturday, January 12.
