BRADENTON, Fla. (May 25, 2017) – Stonehill College senior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) posted a fourth-place finish overall in tonight's 3000-meter steeplechase preliminaries to qualify for tomorrow night's event final at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Tampa and IMG Academy, at the IMG Academy complex.

Borofski finished fourth in the second section of the preliminaries in 10:25.71 to earn one of eight automatic qualifying spots for Friday night's 3000-meter steeplechase final at 7:15 p.m. Borofski will look to improve a third-place finish from last years' championship.

The Plymouth, Massachusetts native, seeded eighth overall in the event after automatically qualifying for the Championships, was in first place from the start until the final 400 meters of the event. After clearing the first water jump, Borofski was in first with her lap of 2:07.01 and stayed up front for the remaining water jumps. Junior Colett Rampf from Saint Leo University slid into second for the remaining 400 meters, then out kicked Borofski to take first in the heat, as Alicja Konieczek of Western State Colorado University and Leah Hanle of the University of Mount Olive followed Rampf for the top-four of the heat and overall.

Borofski will bring Stonehill's 2016-17 track and field season to a close tomorrow night when she runs the 3000-meter steeplechase final at IMG Academy at 7:15 p.m.
