DMR ranks ninth in the nation, Skyhawks place eighth after six scored events

BOSTON, Mass. (FEBRUARY 24, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's indoor track and field team, ranked second in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Regional is tied for eighth after six scored events in day one of the New England Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday, February 24.

Northeastern University leads the pack with 35 points after just six scored events at the Reggie Lewis Center, while MIT is second with 31.50 points. Assumption College places third with 16 points, as University of Rhode Island is close behind with 13.50 points and the College of Holy Cross and Colby College is fifth with 12 points. 

Stonehill's distance medley relay consisting of Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy), Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) and Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) finished first among 14 teams with a time of 11:39.41. This is the second-straight year that the Skyhawks placed first at New Englands. Lastra kicked off the opening 1200-meter leg with a time of 3:35.3 and Fernandes sprinted the 400-meter leg for a time of 57.1. The sophomore handed the baton off to McAdams in the third leg for a 2:20.3 800m leg, while Borofski finished off the race with a 4:46.3 mile. The Skyhawks are now ranked ninth in Division II.

Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) was the only Skyhawk to qualify for her finals event tomorrow as she placed fifth in the 200-meter race with a time of 25.30.

Freshman Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica Memorial) placed ninth in the 1000-meter race with a personal best time of 3:00.63, just missing out of the finals.

Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) also just missed out on finals in the 800m by one place as she finished ninth with a time of 2:16.34.

Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) was the second individual Skyhawk to clock in a personal best time. Polvere crossed the finish line 10^th with a time of 25.69 in the 200-meter dash.

Junior Makenzie Cyr (Douglas, Massachusetts/ Douglas) was the seventh individual Skyhawk to make it into the top 15, but she fell just shy of finals event of the 5000m, as she crossed the line 11th1 with a time of 17:59.60.

Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Massachusets/Lexington) clocked in at 25.88 for a 14^th-place mark in the 200-meter dash finishing behind Dexter and Polvere.

Megan Bobinski (Torrington, Connecticut/Holy Cross) also earned a top-15 finish with an 11^th-place mark in the 500-meter race clocking in at 1:18.27.

Sophomore Jackie Cutillo (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) fell 20^th in the 5000-meter race with a time of 18:41.68.

Stonehill wraps up the New England Championship with the final events tomorrow on Saturday, February 25 at the Reggie Lewis Track.
