EASTON, Mass. (February 8, 2017) – Stonehill College women's distance medley relay team composed of Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy), Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Mass./Coyle and Cassidy), Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough), Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and freshman Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, N.Y./Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference's Track and Field weekly awards, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The distance medley relay team finished fourth with a time of 11:45.29 at the Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invitational, hosted by Boston University on Friday, February 3 earning its first Relay Team of the Week honor.


With an unofficial time of 3:36.72, in the opening 1200-meter leg, Lastra got a jump start before handing the baton off to Fernandes for the second portion. Fernandes sprinted off with the baton in the 400-meter leg, hitting a split of 55.9 before meeting Caiazzi. Caiazzi completed her 800-meter leg in 2:20.3, for the third portion, before dishing the baton off to Borofski who finished the mile anchor in 4:52.28. The squad is now sixth on the NCAA qualifying list.

Lyons competed in her fourth-collegiate meet, where she posted the second-best mark among throwers with a distance of 13.20m (43ft, 3.75inch). The freshman earned her second NE10 honor with this measurement and now holds a new indoor school record surpassing the mark that was thrown in 2015.

The Westerlo, N.Y. native graduated from Bishop Maginn and Berne-Knox Westerlo where she was named MVP for the track team.
