Chivakos, Smith And Chaisson Earn All-New England Honors For Women's Outdoor Track At New England Championships

DURHAM, N.H.– Seven individuals and one relay team earned all-New England accolades for both Stonehill outdoor track and field squads over the weekend at the 2005 All-New England Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire, the highest total of all-New England performers in school history.
Sophomore Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) led the way on the men’s side for Stonehill by finishing fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.46, as he set a school record in the preliminaries with a time of 11.45. Williams was also part of Stonehill’s all-New England effort in the men’s 4 X 100 relay, as he and senior Sotirios Pintzopoulos (North Reading, Mass.), junior Paul Viggiano (Trumbull, Conn.) and sophomore Kevin Dubuc (East Greenwich, R.I.) posted a time of 42.87 in the event that was good for eighth place.
Senior Sean McKeon (Millbury, Mass.) Placed third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:43.10, while freshmen Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) And Richard Gerry (Bow, N.H.) Were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 1,500 meters with times of 3:57.79 and 3:58.51.
On the women’s side, senior Dianna Chivakos (South Hamilton, Mass.) Was fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:39.13, while junior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) And sophomore Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, Mass.) Finished sixth and eighth, respectively, for Stonehill in the 5,000 meters, posting respective times of 17:30.71 and 17:53.60.
Senior Tracy Tabacco (Methuen, Mass.) Set a school record in the preliminaries of the 100 meter hurdles, posting a time of 15.95 in the event.
Stonehill will compete next weekend at the IC4A Championships.
