ABILENE, Tex.-- Stonehill senior Dianna Chivakos (South Hamilton, Mass.) completed her outstanding career by finishing 12th in the national championship 3,000 meter race on Friday evening at the 2005 NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Abilene Christian.

Chivakos posted a time of 10:17.34 in the event in placing 12th overall, as the top eight individuals earn All-America honors.

Chivakos is the only athlete (male or female) in Stonehill history to compete in the NCAA championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track for two straight seasons.

During the 2004-2005 academic year, Chivakos became the second Chieftain cross country All-America while competing for the national championship in both in the indoor 5,000 meters and the outdoor 3,000 meters.

Chivakos was named earlier this spring as the 2004-2005 Edward E. Martin Award recipient as the most outstanding scholar-athlete in the Stonehill senior class.
