EASTON, Mass. (April 25, 2017) – Stonehill College has earned an at large bid to the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships and will serve as host of half of the East Regional bracket on Monday and Tuesday, May 1 and 2, at Charles Watt Tennis Courts, the NCAA selection committee announced tonight.

Stonehill (14-6, 11-1 NE-10), the Northeast-10 Conference regular season champions, earns its 11th NCAA Tournament bid and is seeded fifth in the East Region, The Skyhawks make their third straight appearance under head coach Marc Maloney (42-24/.636) in as many years, and eighth in the last nine seasons overall. The Skyhawks, who have been named host of one of the two East sub-regionals, will face fourth-seeded and NE10 Tournament champions Adelphi University (13-6, 8-4 NE10) in a first round matchup at Watt Courts on Monday, May 1, at 11 a.m. The winner will advance to face top-seeded and No. 34 nationally-ranked New York Institute of Technology (15-0, 7-0 ECC), the regular season and tournament champions from the East Coast Conference, the following day at Watt Courts at 11 a.m.

Monday will mark the third meeting of the year between Stonehill and Adelphi after the Panthers claimed identical 5-4 victories against the Skyhawks, including the NE10 Championship match at Watt Courts on October 23.

Second-seeded and No. 50-ranked Queens (N.Y.) College (13-3, 6-1 ECC), who earned an at large bid, will host the other East Regional bracket, and await the winner of a first round match between third-seeded Goldey-Beacom College (13-3, 7-0 CACC), the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament champions, and sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University (15-7, 10-2 NE10), who earned an at large bid from the NE10. Dates and times for that bracket are to be announced.

The winners of the two East Regional brackets will advance to the NCAA Championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida, May 10-13.
