Vo Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week for Second Straight Week

EASTON, Mass. (October 4, 2016) – Stonehill College freshman Alexandra Vo (Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania/Nazareth Academy) has collected Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for women's tennis for the second straight week and third time this season overall, the league office announced.

 Vo was a double-winner to lead Stonehill to an 8-1 win at Saint Anselm College in its lone match of the week on Thursday. She teamed up with junior Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) for an 8-3 win at No. 1 singles against the Saint Anselm pairing of Tess Malerbi and Meghan Golden. Vo followed that by defeating Malerbi 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Vo, who has now earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors on September 13 and 26, has won all eight of her singles matches early in her first collegiate season, all in NE-10 play, with a 7-0 record at No. 2 singles to go with a victory at No. 1 singles. She has also posted a 6-3 doubles record with four different playing partners, including a 6-2 mark in NE-10 matches.

Stonehill (8-1, 8-0 NE-10), ranked No. 6 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional rankings, is back in action on Wednesday, when it visits the University of New Haven at 3:30 p.m., before closing out the week with key NE-10 matches at Assumption College on Saturday at 11 a.m., and then Adelphi University on Sunday at 10.m. The Skyhawks next home match is Saturday, October 15, when it hosts The College of Saint Rose for an NE-10 match on Senior Day at noon.
