Stonehill Defeats Le Moyne in Home Opener, 7-2


Junior Bailey Paradiso notched wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles this afternoon for the Skyhawks.

Paradiso leads four double-winners for Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. (September 13, 2014) – Stonehill College, ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, swept all three doubles matches on its way to a 7-2 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts today.

Junior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) led the way for Stonehill with singles and doubles wins. She and freshman Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) led the Skyhawks doubles sweep with their 8-5 win at No. 1. Paradiso followed with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 decision at No. 3 singles against sophomore Christina Perry (Endwell, New York/Seton Catholic).

Senior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, Rhode Island/Mount Saint Charles Academy) and freshmen Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) and Colleen O'Donnell (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) also notched singles and doubles wins for Stonehill. Lawrence and O'Donnell posted an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles and then Lawrence breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles against Le Moyne senior Jessica Geary (Cicero, New York/Cicero-North Syracuse). O'Donnell added a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 6 singles against freshman Autumn Hogan (Rochester, New York/Aquinas Institute).

Prinos teamed up with junior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Prinos then didn't drop a game in notching a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles against senior Dominique Canale (Oswego, New York/Oswego).

Freshmen Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, India) and Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/College Saint-Maurice) earned Le Moyne's two points at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Vajjiraveli grinded out a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 triumph over Kump, while Benoit-Limosani added a 6-2, 6-2 win over Barbetta.

Stonehill (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) is right back in action on Sunday when it hosts College of Saint Rose for a Northeast-10 dual match at Watt Courts at 11 a.m. Le Moyne (1-2, 0-1 NE-10) visits Bentley University tomorrow at 11 a.m.
