Stonehill Shuts Out Saint Rose, 9-0

All six Skyhawks are double-winners in third-straight NE-10 win

EASTON, Mass. (October 9, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, remained unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference play with a 9-0 victory over College of Saint Rose in NE-10 women's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Sophomore Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) led the six double-winners for Stonehill with victories at No. 1 singles and doubles. She teamed up with senior captain Kaitlyn Martin (Mattapoisett. Mass./Medway) for an 8-1 doubles win and then cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against sophomore Paige Southwick (Champlain, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton). Martin blanked Saint Rose junior Megan Stacklum (Newburgh, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Junior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) didn't drop a game in posting a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over freshman Gabriella Pizzanelli (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow). She also combined with sophomore Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Kump also didn't drop a game for the afternoon, adding a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over junior Maggie Moran (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill).

Sophomore Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) and freshman Lorraine Smith (Littleton, Colo./D'Evelyn) rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill as the duo combined for an 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles. Smith followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over junior Ashley Cunningham (Durham, N.Y./Cairo-Durham) at No. 5 singles, while McKinney topped junior Ashley Haddad (Frankfort, N.Y./Thomas R. Proctor) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

Stonehill (5-1, 3-0 NE-10) is right back in action at Watt Courts tomorrow when it hosts Le Moyne College for an NE-10 matchup at 3 p.m. Saint Rose (0-5, 0-3 NE-10) hosts Assumption College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
