EASTON, Massachusetts (October 8, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team, who is ranked No. 19 in this week's United Soccer Coaches' National poll and No. 2 in the East Regional poll, secured its third shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University Tuesday afternoon on Skyhawk Field.

Stonehill's (8-2-1, 6-1-1 NE10) sophomore Megan Giambanco and senior Isabella Collentro scored the goals as junior Alex Giardina recorded the assist, while senior Kaitlin Brown tallied a lone save.

Stonehill controlled the pace of the game for the first half and most of the second half, as the Skyhawks outshot the Falcons in the first 3-1 and in the second 10-6. Thirteen minutes into the game, Stonehill registered the first shot on goal, as Camryn Thompson (Lincoln, Rhode Island/Lincoln) collected a ball from outside the 18-yard box and kicked it right into the hands of the Falcons' goalkeeper setting up Stonehill for the first corner kick.

In the 58th minute of the game, Stonehill saw Giambanco with her fifth goal of the season and career as she was given the ball outside the 18-yard box. The sophomore dribbled the ball inside the 18-yard box and to the left trapping the ball off a defender and striking the ball at the left top corner of the six-yard box to put the Skyhawks up 1-0 at 57:32. After a throw in in the Skyhawks' defensive third, Stonehill maintained possession and Collentro took the open space in the attacking third with the ball and passed it to Giardina. While battling a defender, Giardina flicked the ball with her right heel to Collentro who found the back of the net to put the Skyhawks up by two, 2-0 at 73:52. Bentley saw their lone shot on goal in the 87th minute of play, as Stonehill earned their third shutout of the season.

Stonehill heads south to face two out of region teams for non-conference play, with its first game on Friday, October 11 as they battle Lynn University with a 6:00 p.m. start, and follow that with a game on Monday, October 14 as they play Barry University also at 6:00 p.m.
