Henry nets fifth goal of the season, 13th of her career

EASTON, Massachusetts (September 28, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team, who is ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches' East Region poll, played to a 1-1 tie against Northeast-10 Conference foe American International College Saturday afternoon on Skyhawk Field.
Stonehill's (6-1-1, 4-0-1 NE10) junior Kayla Henry found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season and 14th career tally, as the Skyhawks played to their first draw since 2016 when they played to a scoreless draw against Southern New Hampshire University.
Stonehill saw the first action of the game, as Henry and freshman Emma Slade tallied the first two shots of the game in the 16th minute. The Yellow Jackets took the ball to their attacking third but were called for back-to-back fouls as Henry took her second shot in the 18th minute and followed that with her fifth goal of the season in the 20th minute as she took the ball past defenders for a 1-0 advantage at 19:30. The Skyhawks offense outshot the Yellow Jackets 10-1 at the end of the first half totaling three corner kicks to American International's zero.
Ten minutes into the second half, the Yellow Jackets saw an initial shot that was blocked by the Skyhawks in the 60th minute, as Caroline Porter put in the rebound to tie the game at one, 1-1. American International tallied 10 shots in the second half, as Stonehill totaled another eight for 18 total in regulation. The Yellow Jackets also saw some key opportunities in the second half as they totaled six corner kicks, but the Skyhawks' defense held strong clearing each chance.
The Skyhawks then dominated the first overtime period with four shots on goal, with the Yellow Jackets' goalkeeper Olivia Sousa stopping each shot. Stonehill also saw the lone shot on goal in the second overtime, as Sousa totaled nine saves in the game. Thirty seconds before the end of the second overtime, sophomore Jenna Nasuti had an open opportunity about 10 yards from the goal, but she sent it just over the crossbar, leaving no time for more play.
Stonehill plays away from Skyhawk Field for two NE10 Conference games, its first on Wednesday, October 2 as they battle Southern New Hampshire University at 7:00 p.m., who is ranked No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, followed by a conference matchup against The College of Saint Rose on Saturday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m.
