EASTON, Massachusetts (November 5, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team has been seeded seventh for the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament's East Regional as the program officially earned its second NCAA Tournament bid in program history the national committee announced tonight.

Stonehill (13-6, 10-4 NE10) will travel to face second-seeded Bridgeport University (14-4-1, 8-1 ECC) in a first round match on Friday, hosted by the Purple Knights themselves at Knights Field at 2 p.m. The winner of Friday's first round matchup will advance to Sunday's second round to face the winner of the third-seeded Mercy College (12-3-1, 7-1-1 ECC) versus the sixth-seeded College of Saint Rose (13-4-3, 9-3-2 NE10) which will play at 11 a.m. prior to the Skyhawks' game.

Stonehill will make its second NCAA Tournament appearance this week after playing in its 10th NE10 Tournament. The Skyhawks opened the season with a 4-0-0 record with four-straight shutouts, and wrapped up the season with seven-straight victories, the most since the 1999 team that went 17-4. Stonehill also totaled eight shutouts this season, its most since the 2016 team that combined for 10 that made the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Head coach Alex Wilson has led the charge of the Skyhawks for six seasons as she has improved from a 7-11-0 overall record last season to a 13-4-0 overall mark in just a year. Along with seeing a drastic improvement in the program in the last three years, the '08 alum was named the 2016 NE10 Coach of the Year and her staff was recognized as the NSCAA East Region Staff of the Year.

The NCAA East Regional's second bracket will be hosted by top-seeded and NE10 Champion Franklin Pierce University (15-1-2, 11-1-2 NE10). The Ravens will host the eighth-seeded Caldwell University (12-6-1, 8-3-1 ECC) in a 2 p.m. matchup, while the fourth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University (14-4-2, 14-4-2, 10-2-2 NE10) will battle the fifth-seeded LIU Post (13-3-3, 6-1-2 ECC) at 11 a.m. in Manchester, N.H.

The remaining two teams from this weekend's regional brackets will square off on Friday, November 16 for the regional final. The East and Atlantic Region champions will meet for a sweet 16 matchup hosted by the Atlantic Region champion. The winner of that game will move on to the semifinals on November 29, followed by the Championship on December 1 at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
