EASTON, Massachusetts (September 22, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's soccer, ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches' East Regional poll, team held a 1-0 lead for most of the game, until Pace University responded and the Skyhawks put the game winner in 13 seconds later for a 2-1 victory in Northeast-10 Conference play on Skyhawk Field Saturday afternoon.

Stonehill (6-2-0, 3-2-0 NE10) saw Elizabeth Nerger tally her third goal of the season, while Caitlin Regan chipped in her first-collegiate goal and game winning score. Camryn Thompson and Nicole Geraghty registered the assists, respectively.

The first 10 minutes of the game went back and forth as the pace was slow to start. Stonehill took the ball into their attacking third in the 14th minute of the game driving the ball to the 18-yard box, but the Skyhawks were called offsides prior to an open shot. One of the Setter's early opportunities included a corner kick in the 15th minute that was misplayed inside the box, sending the ball off a Pace player's body off to the goal line.

After a foul on Stonehill, the Skyhawks regained possession and Thompson took the ball down the right channel, where she crossed the ball inside the box, setting up a one touch for Nerger who was at the back post. Nerger tipped in her third goal of the season and seventh of her career, while Thompson registered her third assist of the season. The Setters totaled eight corner kicks in the first half, but saw eight shots with only one shot on goal, while the Skyhawks recorded one corner kick with two total shots, both being on net.

Stonehill came out with the edge in the second half, as the offense took control with two shots and back-to-back corner kicks that Pace's defense was able to halt at the goal line. The Skyhawks saw another series of three shots 14 minutes into the half and continued pressuring the Setter's defense striking four more shots in the next 14 minutes. Pace was quick to respond, taking the ball back to their attacking third and after a shot that was blocked in the 78th minute, the Setters took their 10th corner kick of the game that found Isabel Villar in front of the net who struck the ball at Kaitlin Brown for a stop. Brown was unable to keep the ball covered, as Victoria Kealy edged the ball to the back of the net for the rebound at 77:38.

After the restart at midfield, Stonehill the ball straight to the 18-yard box and Geraghty lifted the ball hitting the under part of the crossbar, giving Regan the time to recover the ball and put it in for the go-ahead goal at 77:51. Pace was aggressive in the final 13 minutes of the game bringing the ball to Stonehill's defending third, but the Skyhawks kept its composure and kept the ball out of Brown's hands giving her her sixth win of the season.

Stonehill travels to Ringe, New Hampshire to battle NE10 Conference foe Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday, September 26 for a night contest with a start time of 7:00 p.m.
