Women’s Soccer Falls to Saint Rose, 2-1, in NE10 Play

Campo scores the lone goal for the Skyhawks

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 9, 2017) – The Stonehill women's soccer team fell to Northeast-10 Conference foe the College of Saint Rose in a 2-1 battle Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field.    

Stonehill's (2-2-0, 0-1-0 NE10) Courtney Campo (Quincy, Massachusetts/North Quincy) scored the lone goal, as goalkeeper Kaitlin Brown (Walpole, Massachusetts/Walpole) tallied six saves.

Saint Rose (2-0-1, 1-0-0 NE10) saw a goal from Eva Frazzoni and an assist from Caitlyn Dabagian and another goal by Nina Predanic,

The Golden Knights put pressure on the Skyhawks early in the game, as they took a free kick in the first minute from about 30 yards out and bounced right in front of the Brown for her first save of the game.

After a scuffle on the right side of the field with Saint Rose and Stonehill, the Golden Knights' Frazzoni collected the ball from a rebound and kicked it in the net towards the back left post nine minutes into the game, for a 1-0 lead.

With a free kick at midfield for the Golden Knights, Nina Predanic collected the clear attempted 18 yards out and challenged the defense up the right side to find the back right corner for a 2-0 advantage in the 38th minute of the game.

Saint Rose's defense kicked it back to about 40 yards out and Campo collected the high ball and dribbled past defenders for a lofted kick over the keepers head, cutting the deficit to one, 2-1 in the 84th minute of the game.

With one last free kick attempt for the Golden Knights, Stonehill's keeper was able to stop Saint Rose from gaining any more ground.

The Skyhawks continue NE10 Conference play, as they travel to Worcester, Massachusetts to face Assumption College on Wednesday, September 13 for a 7:00 p.m. nightcap.
