Skyhawks selected to finish fourth in 2017 poll after winning NE10 Championship
2017 NE10 Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll
EASTON, Mass. (August 14, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's soccer program has been picked to finish fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference as voted on by the leagues' 15 head coaches, announced the NE10 Monday morning.

Last years' regular season champion, Adelphi University has been selected to take the crown once again receiving 188 points and 10 first-place votes. American International College finished second last year and was also voted second this year by the coaches with 165 votes and two first-place votes. The College of Saint Rose rounded out the top three with 160 points and one first-place vote. The Skyhawks, who made a historic run for the programs' first NCAA Tournament bid and captured the NE10 Tournament crown for the third time in school history, were voted to finish fourth, receiving 144 points and one first-place tally. Southern Connecticut State University rounded out the top five teams with 143 points, while Southern New Hampshire University was voted sixth with 142 votes and the last first-place mark.
Pace University, who fell to Stonehill in the championship game, was voted to finish seventh in the conference with 141 points, as Le Moyne College (102), Franklin Pierce University (88), and Assumption College (75) fell eighth, ninth, and 10th, respectively. The eleventh mark was given to Merrimack College who collected 72 points, while Bentley University tallied 57 points for 12th place. Saint Anselm College (45) and the University of New Haven (30) were picked to finish 13th and 14th, respectively, as Saint Michael's College took 15th with 23 points.
Stonehill, which was voted to finish 12th last fall, posted a record of 15-6-1 overall and an 8-5-1 NE10 mark, good for fourth overall. They defeated Pace University, 2-1, in the NE10 Championship game for the program's first crown since 1995. The Skyhawks collected 10 shutouts in the season for the third most in program history. Graduating 10 seniors after last season, the Skyhawks will see 10 freshman wearing Purple and White.

"I'm excited to begin our journey with the 2017 squad. We've got a great returning core and 10 freshmen that will look to impact on and off the field," stated head coach Alex Wilson '08.
Returning for the Skyhawks is senior Meredith Moore (Salem, Connecticut/East Lyme) who was second on the team in goals scored with six and one assist and sophomore Nicole Geraghty (Bridgewater, Massachusetts/Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) who followed her with four tallies.
Junior Courtney Campo (Quincy, Massachusetts/North Quincy) returns to midfield, as she was named to the NE10 third team for the first time in her career after totaling four points for the Skyhawks. Geraghty was also chosen as one of six All-Conference nods, as she made the All-Rookie team.
"I think with any new season we have fresh goals and a process to follow in order to attain them. With the release of the preseason poll, we just see us and that's the focus – our work, our culture, our team – and we know it's going to take complete team buy in to reach new heights and continue to build on the tradition of Stonehill Women's Soccer," explained Wilson.
Stonehill opens up its 2017 campaign on Friday, September 1 at W.B. Mason Stadium hosting the East Region Crossover Challenge with its first match against New York Institute of Technology at 4:00 p.m. The following day, Saturday, September 2, the Skyhawks face Nyack College at 3:00 p.m.
