Senior captain posted a 1.49 goals against average in 2013

EASTON, Mass. (December 4, 2013) – Stonehill College senior captain goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) has been named to the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Women's All-East Region Third Team, it was announced today.
Wheaton posted a 1.49 goals against average and a .774 save percentage this season for Stonehill, which finished 5-8-1 in the Northeast-10 and 5-11-2 overall, narrowly missing out on the Northeast-10 Championship. Wheaton recorded two shutouts in 2013, coming in back to back games on September 21st against Le Moyne College and September 24th against Franklin Pierce University.
The senior kept the Skyhawks in nearly every match this season, as she allowed one goal or fewer in 11 of Stonehill's 17 contests in 2013. Wheaton made a season-best nine saves in Stonehill's 2-1 overtime victory against Southern Connecticut State University on October 19th, and she stopped eight shots on three separate occasions. Wheaton helped Stonehill get off to a 3-1-1 start in conference play by allowing only three goals in the team's first five NE-10 contests.
In 2012, Wheaton had a breakout season, as she was honored by Daktronics as an Honorable Mention All-American and All-East Region First Team selection, and by the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) as an All-New England First Team Selection. The keeper was further recognized by the NSCAA, as she was named to the All-East Region Second Team, and by the Northeast-10 Conference, as she was named both All-Conference First Team and Conference Goalkeeper of the Year.
Wheaton posted a career-best 0.65 goals against average in 2012, allowing only 12 goals in 17 matches while making 96 saves. She also recorded a career-high shutout total, with eight. In her career at Stonehill, Wheaton totaled 17 clean-sheets.
