Kapatoes Earns Spot On NE-10 All-Rookie Squad

Hopedale, Mass. native started 15 of 18 games in 2013, scoring two goals

EASTON, Mass. (November, 11 2013) – Stonehill College freshman forward Lauren Kapatoes (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team, it was announced last week by the league office.

Kapatoes ranked third on Stonehill with two goals in 2013, behind only junior forwards Megan Sullivan (Sutton, Mass./Sutton) and Renee Trudeau (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke). Kapatoes started 15 matches this season and played in all 18, registering a team-high 37 shots, including 18 on goal.

She scored her first collegiate goal on September 18^th at Saint Michael's College, in a match that Stonehill eventually won 2-1. Kapatoes second tally of the season came on October 22^nd at home against Bentley University, and it was an important one. With the Skyhawks trailing, 1-0, and under four minutes remaining in the contest, Kapatoes fired a shot off the crossbar and into the net from the left side of the penalty area. The score tied the match, and Stonehill would go on to claim a 2-1 victory in overtime on a goal by Trudeau.

Prior to her arrival at Stonehill, Kapatoes was a star forward at Hopedale High School. In five seasons with the varsity squad, Kapatoes established herself as Hopedale's all-time leading scorer, racking up 96 goals and 39 assists. She was a two-time All-State selection, team MVP, and team captain, and a three-time Central Massachusetts All-Star. In 2011, Kapatoes earned District III MVP honors, after helping her team win the district championship and reach the state finals by tallying seven post season goals.
