Skyhawks cut deficit to one early in second half, unable to rally further

Freshman Brianna Duserick scored her first career goal today in Stonehill's 3-1 loss at Assumption.

WORCESTER, Mass. (October 12, 2013) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team dug itself into an early hole before falling by a 3-1 margin at Assumption College today in Northeast-10 competition at Assumption's Multi-Sport Stadium.

Assumption junior midfielder Lindsey Miller (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) scored in the 11th minute on a feed from senior forward Justine DiDonato (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) to stake the Greyhounds to an early advantage.

The home team would double its lead in the 37th minute, when junior back Nicole Brady (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) found the back of the net with the help of junior forward Liz Manganella (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich), who provided the assist.

Stonehill got right back into the contest just two minutes into the second half on freshman midfielder Brianna Duserick's (Canton, Mass./Canton) first career marker, to cut the Assumption advantage to one.

The Greyhounds responded 34 seconds after Duserick's goal with one of their own, this time by senior forward Kelsey Imondi (Warwick, R.I./Toll Gate). With the tally, Imondi became the third different player to score for Assumption in the contest.

Assumption junior goalkeeper Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) stopped nine shots for the Greyhounds, while her counterpart, Stonehill senior captain Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth), made four saves.
