Senior duo led Stonehill to 35 wins over four-year career (27 conference victories)
EASTON, Mass. (November 26, 2012) – Seniors Allison Nagle (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and Sara Nagle (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) have been chosen to play in the 2012 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, to be held at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. on Sunday, December 2 at 11 a.m.
In their four-year careers at Stonehill, the Nagles guided a backline that held opponents to a 0.94 goals against average in 6,960 minutes of play. The duo helped the Skyhawks reduce their goals allowed total every season (25, 22, 14, 12) rewriting the record book twice for the fewest goals allowed in a single-season with 12 this fall and tied the then program record in 2011 with 14 goals allowed (1993 season).
Allison Nagle started 72 out of a possible 74 games in her career for Stonehill, all on the backline. She was named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Select Sport Defensive Player of the Week once in 2012, guiding the Skyhawks to a 4-0 shutout against Concordia (N.Y.) in their 2012 season opener. Stonehill's defense only allowed one shot on goal while Nagle scored her first career collegiate goal in four seasons at the 70:22 mark of the contest.
Nagle wraps up her career at Stonehill with eight points on one goal and six assists. Her pair of assists in 2011 set up two game-winning markers while her two assists this season helped the Skyhawks win one contest and tie another. In the classroom, she is a two-time NCAA Division II ADA Academic Achievement award winner and has been a consistent member of the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's honor rolls.
Sara Nagle has had a decorated career at Stonehill earning three NE-10 All-Conference selections including first team honors in 2011. She was named to the second team this fall and the third team in 2010. Nagle was also an NE-10 All-Rookie Team selection during her freshman campaign in 2009.
As a junior, Nagle collected many awards including a selection to the NSCAA All-East Region team, NEWISA All-New England Second Team accolades and a Daktronics All-East Region Second Team selection. The Skyhawks went 11-7-2 overall and 8-5-2 in conference play during that season. Academically, Nagle was named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Second Team and also earned an NE-10 Academic All-Conference selection, a Division II ADA Academic Achievement award and NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades.
Nagle never missed a contest at Stonehill making 74-consecutive starts on the backline for the Skyhawks.
Stonehill finished its 2012 season with a 6-5-6 record overall and 5-5-5 mark in the NE-10.
