Stonehill Plays To Scoreless Draw With Bentley

Skyhawks outshoot Falcons, 15-8, in non-scoring affair

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 16, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team and Bentley University played to a scoreless draw in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Tuesday evening.

The Skyhawks have played in seven overtime games this season posting a 1-1-5 record overall during that stretch. Three of those contests have been played to scoreless ties.

Junior captain and goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) turned away three shots to earn her sixth shutout of the season, 13th career. Sophomore goalkeeper Christiana Hynds (West Roxbury, Mass./Boston Latin) made seven saves, including four in the first half, for Bentley University.

Stonehill outshot the Falcons, 12-7, in regulation and 3-1 combined over both overtime sessions. The Skyhawks recorded the only shot on goal in extra time as senior back Sara Nagle (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) was stymied by Hynds in the 105th minute of play.

Sophomore midfielder Christine Moodie (Littleton, Mass./Littleton) led Stonehill offensively with two shots on goal. The Skyhawks also held a 5-2 advantage in corners on the evening.

Stonehill (5-4-5, 4-4-4 NE-10) hosts The College of Saint Rose, the defending NCAA Division II National Champions, on Saturday, October 20 at Skyhawk Field on "Senior Day." S. Nagle, Allison Nagle (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and Gina Patronaggio (Massapequa, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) will be honored for their contributions towards the women's soccer program prior to the contest. Bentley (5-6-3, 3-6-3 NE-10) welcomes Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday for a 3 p.m. NE-10 matchup.
