Stonehill And Le Moyne Play To Scoreless Draw In Double Overtime

Wheaton compiles a game-high eight saves for the Skyhawks

Junior goalkeeper Amy Wheaton made eight saves for the Skyhawks.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 15, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team and Le Moyne College played to a double overtime 0-0 tie in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Saturday afternoon at the Athletic Turf Complex.

Junior goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) made eight saves to record her third shutout of the season (tenth career). Wheaton turned away five shots in the opening half, two in the second stanza and a pair of shots in the last overtime session.

Dolphins' freshman goalkeeper Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) stopped three shots including one in the first overtime period.

Sophomore midfielder/forward Maddie Manning (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) had the Skyhawks lone shot on goal in overtime coming in the 98th minute.

In the second overtime period, Wheaton stymied sophomore back Katherine Duke (Overland Park, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) in the 102nd minute and preserved the tie with a save in the 109th minute on a shot from junior midfielder Kate Deasy (Pittsford, N.Y./Aquinas Institute).

Le Moyne outshot Stonehill, 26-9, and won the corners matchup, 9-4.

Stonehill (3-0-1, 2-0-1 NE-10) travels to Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, September 18 for a 7 p.m. start. Le Moyne (2-2-1, 0-2-1 NE-10) hosts the University of New Haven on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
