EASTON, Mass. (September 5, 2012) – Stonehill College senior back Allison Nagle (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Select Sport Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office, it was announced yesterday.

Nagle guided the Skyhawks to a 4-0 shutout against Concordia (N.Y.) in their season opener on Saturday as Stonehill's defense only allowed one shot on goal. Nagle also scored her first career collegiate goal in four seasons at the 70:22 mark of the contest.

Last season, Nagle was a key member of Stonehill's back line that finished with the best goals against average (GAA) in conference play (0.58) and the third best GAA overall (0.68). Stonehill finished the 2011-12 season with an 11-7-2 record overall and 8-5-2 mark in the NE-10. The Skyhawks, making their eighth appearance in the semifinal round of the conference tournament last fall, dropped a 2-0 decision to The College of Saint Rose – the eventual NE-10 and NCAA Division II champions – to close out their season.

Nagle, a consistent member of both the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls, has only missed two games in her collegiate career. Nagle has started in all 56 games she has played in amassing six points on one goal and four assists.

Stonehill (1-0-0, 0-0-0 NE-10) opens up its conference slate on Saturday, September 8 as the Skyhawks host Pace University (0-1-1, 0-0-0 NE-10) on Skyhawk Field at noon.
