Fazio fires Dolphins into semifinals with five points
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (May 1, 2019) – Top-seeded Le Moyne College, ranked No. 1 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, outscored eighth-seeded Stonehill College 8-1 after halftime to seal a 14-4 victory in quarterfinal round action of the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Ted Grant Field this afternoon.
Le Moyne (18-0, 13-0 NE10) advances to Saturday's semifinal round and will host the remainder of the NE10 Tournament this weekend. The Dolphins await the winner of tonight's quarterfinal between fourth-seeded and 18th-ranked Bentley University (11-5, 9-4 NE10) and fifth-seeded and 17th-ranked Assumption College (13-4, 9-4 NE10) being played in Waltham, Massachusetts, at 7 p.m. Stonehill sees its season come to a close with a 9-9 record overall, including 6-7 in the NE10 to make its Conference record 20th NE10 Tournament appearance. The Skyhawks and head coach Katie Conover, '03 will return all 21 players from this year's roster next season, with no seniors on the team this spring.
Senior Bryanna Fazio had a hand in five of Le Moyne's goals with four goals and an assist, adding five draw controls, while junior Nicole Delaney contributed three goals, two draws, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior Madison Pritchard, sophomore Erin McMullen and freshman Jessica Meneilly all chipped in with a pair of markers for the Dolphins, while Pritchard also tallied three caused turnovers, two draw controls and two ground balls.
Junior Hannah George preserved the win with six saves, including four in a tightly contested first half in which Le Moyne held just a 6-3 lead, with the sixth marker scored in the waning seconds.

Junior Bailey Grant kept Stonehill in the game with a career-high 16 saves, including nine in the first half alone, giving her a program-record 364 saves heading into her final collegiate season next spring. Classmate Olivia DeCurtis contributed two caused turnovers and a ground ball on the defensive end for the Skyhawks.
Junior Kaity Healey scored three of Stonehill's four goals in the game, including a pair to stake the Stonehill two an early two goal lead less than seven minutes into the contest. Sophomore Shannon Hughes chipped in with the Skyhawks remaining goal.
Le Moyne answered Healey's opening pair with a five-goal run to grab the lead, the first three of which came from Delaney within a four-minute span. Fazio followed with a pair to give the Dolphins a three-goal lead (5-2) with 4:13 remaining in the first half. Hughes ended the run with her team-leading 38th goal of the year with 3:22 left, and the Skyhawks had a chance to pull back within a goal, but a pair of free-position attempts were stopped by George in the last minute of the half. Le Moyne was able to clear after the second and Meneilly send the hosts into halftime with a three-goal lead (6-3) with her first goal of the day.
Le Moyne sealed its semifinal spot from there, scoring the first seven goals of the second half to open a ten-goal lead (13-3) after Meneilly's second with 5:43 to play. McMullen scored twice and Fazio contributed two goals and an assist during the second half run. Healey finished off her hat trick with her 35th goal of the season with 3:04 left and then Pritchard capped the scoring less than a minute later.
