EASTON, Mass. (May 4, 2018) – Stonehill College freshmen Shannon Hughes (Franklin Square, New York/Kellenberg Memorial) and Emily Sharretts (Derry, New Hampshire/Pinkerton Academy) are among 17 women's lacrosse student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference's All-Rookie Team by the league's 14 head coaches, the Conference announced today.

Hughes started 12 of 16 games played for Stonehill in her first collegiate season, contributing on both ends of the field with 21 goals and seven assists for 28 points, while collecting 21 ground balls, ten draw controls and 12 caused turnovers. She finished fourth on the team in caused turnovers, fourth in scoring and third in goals scored. Hughes scored in five straight games to close out the season for the Skyhawks and seven of eight. She scored a season-high six points with three goals and a season-best three assists in Stonehill's 22-6 win at Saint Thomas Aquinas College, before capping the year with a season-high four goals and an assist in a 19-6 win at Queens (N.Y.) College.

Sharretts started 11 of 15 games played in her first collegiate season for Stonehill. She finished third on the team with 30 draw controls, adding 27 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Sharretts assisted on a Skyhawks defense that ranks sixth in the NE10 with a 12.76 team goals against average. She collected a season-high five ground balls against Merrimack College on March 6, matching that total in a 17-13 win over Southern Connecticut State University on March 22, in which she also tallied a season-best five draw controls. Sharretts matched her season-high for draws in a 17-16 win at Franklin Pierce University on April 7 and caused a season-best three turnovers in a 14-12 win over Saint Anselm College on April 17.

Stonehill wrapped up its 2018 season with an 8-9 record overall, including 5-8 in the NE10.
