Women's Golf Opens Spring Schedule in Lone Star State

Annarummo leads Skyhawks with opening round 84

AUSTIN, Texas (February 24, 2020) - The Stonehill College women's golf team opened its spring schedule with first round play at the 2020 SEU Crosswind Gloves Invitational, hosted by Saint Edward's University, on the 5,810-yard, par-70 layout at Onion Creek Country Club today.

Sophomore Alexis Annarummo led the way for Stonehill in the first round, carding a pair of birdies on the front nine, to go with three pars for an opening round 84. She is tied for 68th in the 16-team field of 89 golfers.

Stonehill posted a team score of 348 on Monday and is 14th in the team standings, which is led by West Texas A&M University with a ten-over-par score of 290. The Buffs lead Arkansas Tech University (295) by five strokes, while the Skyhawks sit 16 strokes behind University of Hawaii-Hilo (332) and a stroke ahead of both Lubbock Christian University (349) and University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. Ueakarn Songprasert from West Texas A&M leads the individual standings after posting the lone sub-par round of the day with a two-under-par 68, holding a two-stroke lead over Elena Castanon of host St. Edward's with an even-par 70.

  • Sophomore Emma Beaulieu and freshman Julia Dapron each carded birdies on their way to opening round 87s. The duo are tied for 74th overall and Beaulieu added five pars to her round, while Dapron had five pars and posted a front-nine of 5-over-par 40.
  • Sophomore Sloane Van Zanen rounded out Stonehill's scoring rounds on Monday with a 90, while freshman Emily Kase added a 92.
  • Junior Katelyn Jylkka and senior Jennifer Kornacki rounded out the Skyhawks on Monday, competing as individuals at the event. Jylkka recorded a round of 98, while Kornacki shot 108.
