Skyhawks cap fall season by moving up the leaderboard behind Dapron
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (October 22, 2019) - Stonehill College moved up two spots in the team standings in the second and final round of the Inaugural Chippewa Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan University, at the 5,966-yard, par-72, layout of the Birmingham Country Club today.
Freshman Julia Dapron led Stonehill with a two-day score of 165, following up her opening round 80 with an 85 today, to finish tied for 34th in the field of 86. She registered a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to go with six pars during her round today. Dapron finished the two day tournament tied for tenth in par-5 scoring at 5.13, which included the first eagle in program history on the 14th hole on Monday – one of just four in the field at the event.
Sophomore Alexis Annarummo carded an 86 today to finish tied for 43rd overall with a two-day score of 167, while classmate Sloane Van Zanen also scored an 86 today to finish with a two-day score of 173 and a tie for 66th. Annarummo and Van Zanen each recorded birdies during their rounds today, with Annarummo posting a three on the par-4 sixth and Van Zanen opening her round with a four on the par-5 14th, to go with seven pars. Annarummo and Van Zanen both finished tied for 18th in the field for par three scoring at 3.38.

Freshman Abby Jaye posted identical rounds of 87 on the two days, finishing tied for 70th with a two-day score of 174. Sophomore Emma Beaulieu trimmed six shots off her Monday score with a second round 90, finishing with a two-day result of 186 (78th), while junior Katelyn Jylkka finished at 187 (88-99). Freshman Emily Kase rounded out the tournament at 189 (93-96), while senior Jennifer Kornacki posted a 220 (106-114).
Stonehill moved up two spots in the team standings on the second day with its 344 today combining with a 335 on Monday for a two-day result of 679 and a tie for 11th in the field, along with Division I Niagara University (331-348=679), ahead of Chicago State University (328-353=681). The Chippewa Invitational marks the toughest field and the longest course the Skyhawks have played against and on in their three-year history, featuring nine Division I and four Division II programs, including a Grand Valley State University program ranked No. 16 in Division II. Western Michigan University held off the field to win the team title with a two-day score of 613 (300-313), four strokes ahead of Bradley University (308-309=617), with Grand Valley State finishing third (306-312=618). Grand Valley State's Katie Chipman, ranked No. 5 in Division II, earned medalist honors by firing a three-under-par round of 69 today, for a two-day score of 141, four strokes in front of Bradley's Taylor Ledwein (76-69=145).
Stonehill draws its fall season to a close with today's round and will release its spring schedule in the coming weeks.
