Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at NE10 Championship

Dapron leads Skyhawks with 20th place finish on individual leaderboard

VERONA, N.Y. (October 14, 2019) -  Stonehill College posted a sixth place team finish at the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Golf Championship, hosted by Le Moyne College, as the second round was completed at the 5,822-yard, par-72, layout of the Shenendoah Course at Turning Stone Resort today.

Stonehill followed its program-best NE10 Championship single day score of 332 in Sunday's first round with a second round total of 354 to finish at 686 over the two days, its lowest in two NE10 Championship appearances as a team. Franklin Pierce University finished off its second championship in three years with a two day score of 622 (306-316), 27-strokes better than runner-up Assumption College (325-324=649). The College of Saint Rose moved up three spots on Monday to finish third (337-323=660), followed by Southern New Hampshire University (333-328=661) in fourth and then host Le Moyne (330-339=669) in fifth.

Freshman Jinnapat Rittawee led three Franklin Pierce golfers in the top five and four in the top ten by taking individual medalist honors with a four-over-par two day score of 148 (72-76), edging Le Moyne's Bianca Cruz-Hernandez (73-77=150) by two strokes.

Freshman Julia Dapron led the way for Stonehill with a 20th place finish as she followed up her opening round 84 with an 85 today, finishing with a two-day score of 169. She carded seven pars to go with a birdie on the par-3 12th hole today. Dapron finished second in the field for par-3 scoring at the Championship at 3.13 (+1), ranking seventh with her 18 pars over two days and posting a pair of birdies over the two days.

Freshman Emily Kase finished tied for 24th with a two-day score of 172 (82-90), while sophomore Sloane Van Zanen placed 25th at 173 (84-89). Freshman Abby Jaye followed in 28th at 175 (82-93), while sophomore Alexis Annarummo finished 31st with a score of 183 (93-90). Van Zanen was second to Dapron for the Skyhawks with 17 pars at the Championship, including nine today. Kase added eight pars today, while Jaye matched Dapron with two birdies this weekend, including the par-4 seventh hole today.

Stonehill closes out its fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday, October 21 and 22, at the Chippewa Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan University, at Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan.
