Women’s Golf Announces NLI During Early Signing Period

Van Zanen, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, will join Skyhawks in Fall 2018

EASTON, Mass. (November 15, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's golf program has announced the commitment of Sloane Van Zanen, from Phoenix, Arizona, and Arcadia High School, who signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) during the early signing period and will compete with the program starting in the Fall of 2018.

"We are excited to announce our first 2018 NLI for the Stonehill women's golf program," said head coach Nick Crovetti. "Sloane is a phenomenal student-athlete and will be a great addition to our squad. She has length off the tee and ability to shoot very low rounds. Sloane will contribute right away and be a key ingredient as we grow and develop our newly formed program."

Van Zanen is a four-year letterwinner on the girl's golf team at Arcadia High School, serving as team captain as a junior and senior. She led the Titans to a runner-up finish at the 2015 Arizona Division II State Championships, placing tenth overall as an individual in the field of over 90 golfers. Van Zanen earned AZCentral All-State second team honors in 2015-16, being twice named to the Scottsdale All-City Team.

Van Zanen is a 3.8 handicap, who is ranked No. 1,293 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard, having carded a career-low round of 2-under-par, 70 in the second round of the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) Thunderbird Junior Championship at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club in Phoenix. Van Zanen posted a two-round score of 144 at the tournament. She has competed in over 45 junior golf tournaments in all.

Sloane is the daughter of Patrick and Vicki Van Zanen of Phoenix.

Stonehill recently completed the fall portion of its inaugural season, with three golfers competing in four tournaments, including its first appearance at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in late September. The Skyhawks spring schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
