EASTON, Mass. (February 12, 2019) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 7 in this week's D2SIDA East Region poll, returned home and bounced back from a pair of road losses last week and notched a 71-51 victory over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium tonight.

Freshman Kayla Raymond led three Stonehill scorers in double-figures with 16 points (ten first half) on 6-of-12 shooting, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior Gabrielle Reuter added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, and five rebounds, while senior Tayler Wornum totaled a season-high ten points and six boards (four offensive) in 13 minutes off the bench. Sophomore Jennifer Worden chipped in with a career-best ten assists.

Stonehill took charge early, scoring nine-straight points to grab a 9-2 lead after a Worden layup three and a half minutes into the game. The Skyhawks carried that margin into the second quarter and then limited Saint Michael's to just four points over the remainder of the half to open an 18-point halftime advantage (32-14). Stonehill scored eight-straight points over a five minute span to open a 15-point cushion (27-12), capped by four-straight points from Wornum. The Skyhawks used a three-pointer from Worden and a Reuter layup in the final minute of the half to claim their 18-point halftime lead.

Stonehill pushed its lead past 20-points (38-16) with a three-pointer from junior Kelsey Shaw less than two minutes into the second half. The Skyhawks weren't seriously threatened the rest of the way, taking a 24-point lead (48-24) after a jumper from senior Maty Diabate with 1:43 left in the third.

Diabate gave Stonehill a game-high 25-point lead (52-27) two minutes into the fourth. Saint Michael's pulled within 17 (58-41) after a layup by junior Brianna Purcell midway through the final quarter, but would get no closer. The Skyhawks scored eight of the next nine points to reclaim a 24-point margin (66-42) with 3:19 to seal the win, getting four points each from Wornum and freshman Emily Bramanti.

Stonehill (16-7, 11-6 NE10) is right back in action here at Merkert Gym on Saturday, when it hosts Franklin Pierce University for its Play 4 Kay Game at 1:30 p.m. Saint Michael's (10-12, 6-11 NE10) hosts Assumption College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
