Raymond Collects Third NE10 Rookie of the Week Award

EASTON, Mass. (December 3, 2018) – Stonehill College freshman forward Kayla Raymond has earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the second-straight week and third time over the first month of the season by the league office today.

Raymond led Stonehill, ranked No. 4 in this week's D2SIDA East Region poll, to a 62-57 win over Merrimack College on Wednesday with a game-high 19 points in her lone game of the week. She drained 3-of-6 three-pointers and added two steals, a rebound, blocked shot and assist in her 23 minutes of play in the win.

Raymond, who also earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors on November 12 and 26, scored a season-best 22 points in Stonehill's 63-44 win over Holy Family University on November 10. She has scored in double-figures in all six games she has played, with three 20-plus point outings. Raymond has started all six games she has played this season, ranking sixth among NE10 scoring leaders with her team-high 18.3 points per game, while ranking sixth in three-point field goal percentage at 47.8-percent (11-for-23) and 11th in free-throw percentage at .813 (13-for-16). She is also averaging 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game (5th NE10), in 24.0 minutes per contest.

Stonehill, ranked No. 23 in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II poll and receiving votes in the D2SIDA Top 25 media poll, is back in action on Wednesday, when it opens a five-game home stand that will cap 2018 against Assumption College at Merkert Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m. The Skyhawks will host Southern New Hampshire University, ranked ninth in the region, for their Purple & White Game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
