Men's Track & Field Sends Three into Saturday Finals at New England Championships

Demeule finishes 14th in 5000-meter final

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 10, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's track & field team qualified three into Saturday finals to highlight day one of the 2019 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University, at Jess Dow Field today.

Junior Justin Ireland will run in tomorrow's 100-meter dash final with the sixth-fastest time of 10.93-seconds, finishing second in his heat, out of 31 competitors overall, today.

Sophomore Ethan Famiano qualified for tomorrow's final in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.69-seconds, finishing second in his heat with the eighth-fastest time overall out of 29 entries.

Senior Joe Connolly qualified eighth out of 29 entries in the 400-meter dash, finishing second in his qualifying heat, in 49.01-seconds. Junior Jeremy Breen placed 21st in 50.75-seconds.

Senior All-American Alex Demeule finished 14th out of 32 runners in the 5000-meter run final in 15:16.64. Classmate Christopher Drace placed 24th in 15:31.54.

Freshman Jack Bowers placed 21st out of 32 entries in today's 400-meter hurdles prelims in 56.30-seconds.

The 2019 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude at Southern Connecticut State's Jess Dow Field tomorrow, starting with day two of the multi-events at 10 a.m., before the track & field events start at noon.
