EASTON, Mass. (April 26, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's track & field program earned a pair of Northeast-10 Conference weekly honors for their performances as the only non-Division I program competing at the Holy Cross Invitational, hosted by College of the Holy Cross, the league announced.

Freshman Jack Bowers earns NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time during the outdoor season and is a member of Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay that collected NE10 Relay of the Week honors. It marks the third straight week a Skyhawks relay has earned Relay of the Week honors, with the 4x400 joining the 4x100-meter relay and 4000-meter distance medley relay in collecting the weekly award during the outdoor season to date. Joining Bowers on the relay at Holy Cross on Saturday, were senior Joe Connolly, junior Jeremy Breen and freshman Anthony Magazzu.

Bowers turned in solid performances for Stonehill in three events at Holy Cross on Saturday, including running the anchor leg for the 4x400-meter relay. He also placed seventh in his first collegiate 100-meter dash in 11.39-seconds to go with a sixth place finish out of 11 entries in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.46-seconds.

Bowers also earned NE10 Track Rookie of the Week honors following Stonehill's outdoor opening weekend at the UMass Lowell Invitational. He finished first in the 400-meter hurdles that weekend in 55.45-seconds and added a second first place performance in the event at the Ocean State Invitational on April 13 in a personal-best 54.82-seconds that ranks fifth on the NE10 performance list. Bowers has also run the 200-meter dash (23.44-seconds) to go with his debut in the 100-meters on Saturday. He earned All-NE10 honors as part of Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay that finished third at the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships in February in 10:12.02, while also competing with the 4x400-meter relay that finished fourth at the Championships in 3:23.86.

Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay turned in a first place finish at Holy Cross on Saturday in 3:19.76, which ranks third in the NE10 this spring. Connolly ran the lead leg in 50.4-seconds unofficially, followed by Magazzu for a 50.3-second split on the second leg, with Breen taking the baton for a 49.7-second third leg, before Bowers completed the anchor leg in 49.2-seconds.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday, when it hosts its 12th annual Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium. Senior Day recognition starts at 10 a.m., with field events commencing at 10:30 a.m., and the track events getting underway at 11 a.m. Live video coverage of the track events by SkyhawksVision on NE10 Now and live results will be available at stonehillskyhawks.com.
