All-Americans Lead Men's Track & Field on Day One of Ocean State Invitational

Taxter posts top ten finish in one mile run to lead Skyhawks

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 12, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's track & field program opened its weekend by competing on day one of the Ocean State Invitational, hosted by Brown University and Providence College, at Providence's Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field tonight.

Senior All-American Lucas Taxter finished ninth out of 58 entries in the one mile run in 4:11.51, good for first among non-Division I entries. Freshman Nickolas McNamee placed 33rd in 4:19.91, while senior Matthew Shaw was 41st in 4:24.46 and junior Sean Conlan finished 48th in 4:29.53.

Senior All-American Alex Demeule placed 13th out of 34 competitors in the 5000-meter run in 15:01.21, finishing second among non-Division I entries. Classmate Christopher Drace finished 22nd in 15:31.53, while sophomore Kevin Wheelock was 26th in 15:45.15.

Senior All-American Stephen Vercollone placed 14th out of 63 entries in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.17, finishing second among non-Division I runners. Junior Christopher Lanahan finished 31st in a season-best 1:56.75, while freshman Evan Kennedy was 47th in a personal-best 2:00.28.

Stonehill returns to Rhode Island tomorrow for day two of the Ocean State Invitational at Brown University's Brown Stadium. Stonehill will host its annual Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
