Skyhawks relay was among two first place finishes at season-opening event

EASTON, Mass. (December 14, 2018) – Stonehill College men's 4x800-meter relay team earned Northeast-10 Men's Relay of the Week honors from the Conference office.

The Stonehill relay was among two first place finishes for the men's track & field program at Saturday night's season-opening Howlin' Huskies Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center. The team finished first in 7:59.22, just 0.30-seconds ahead of the University of Rhode Island (7:59.52). Running the event for the Skyhawks were senior All-American Stephen Vercollone with a 1:58.5 split on the lead leg, followed by junior Jeremy Breen who ran the second leg in 1:59, and then senior Matthew Shaw completed the third leg in 2:01, before sophomore Christopher Lanahan ran the anchor leg in 2:00.

Stonehill is off for final exams and the holidays until after the New Year, when it competes at the Beantown Challenge at Harvard University on Saturday, January 12, at 11 a.m.
