Skyhawks senior places seventh in the event to lead team on day one of New England Championships
HANOVER, N.H. (May 11, 2018) – Senior Anthony Innamorati (Clinton, Massachusetts/Clinton) earned All-New England honors to lead the Stonehill College men's track and field program, ranked No. 3 in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Region rankings, on day one of the 2018 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Dartmouth College, at Memorial Field today.
Innamorati put a finish on his record-breaking career at Stonehill, earning All-New England honors for the third time in his career by matching his career-best finish at the championships, with a seventh-place finish out of 21 competitors by clearing 14-feet, 11-inches on his second attempt. He also finished seventh at the 2016 New England Championships and eighth in 2017.
Innamorati earns two points in the team standings for Stonehill, which sits in 23rd place overall through seven events. UMass Dartmouth and Williams College share the team lead after the first day with 28.50 points, each. The University of Massachusetts is third with 28 points.
Junior Joe Connolly (Wilmington, Massachusetts/Austin Prep) qualified for tomorrow's 200-meter dash final, finishing second in his section and qualifying fifth overall in 21.841-seconds. Sophomore Justin Ireland (Norton, Massachusetts/Norton) placed 13th out of 30 entries in 22.16-seconds, after narrowly missing qualifying for tomorrow's 100-meter dash final, finishing ninth out of 31 entries in 19.94-seconds, good for second in his heat, but 0.01-seconds shy of qualifying.

Freshman Ethan Famiano (Warwick, Rhode Island/Bishop Hendricken) narrowly missed qualifying for tomorrow's final for the 110-meter high hurdles, placing ninth overall and third in his heat with a time of 15.28-seconds – just two-tenths of a second out. Sophomore Collin Kuchachik (Orange, Connecticut/Amity Regional) finished 21st in 16.46-seconds.
Junior Lawrence Carney (Lowell, Massachusetts/Lowell) and freshman Kevin Wheelock (Melrose, Massachusetts/Melrose) finished back to back in 14th and 15th place out of 29 runners, respectively, in the 5000-meter run. Carney finished in 15:08.51, while Wheelock clocked in at 15:09.63. Senior Kenny Vinacco (Scituate, Rhode Island/Scituate) followed in 18th place with a time of 15:13.68, while classmates Sam Bradford (Bedford, Massachusetts/Bedford) and Jimmy Murphy (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield) finished in 25th (15:30.09) and 27th ( personal-best 15:32.98) overall.
Senior Stefan Balestra Lincoln, Rhode Island/Lincoln) capped his record-breaking collegiate career with a distance of 138-feet, 1-inch in the hammer throw to place 22nd overall.
Stonehill is back in action tomorrow for the second day of the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Dartmouth College. The second half of the multi events get underway at 10 a.m., with the track & field events starting at noon.
