School Records & Personal Bests Set by Men’s Track & Field at BU Last Chance Qualifier

Three school records and four personal bests at Boston University


Innamorati set a new school record in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet, 11 inches

BOSTON, Mass. (February 25, 2018) – The Stonehill College men's track and field team sent six individuals to the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier at the BU Track and Tennis Center on Sunday, February 25.

Junior Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) placed second in the second heat, and eighth overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.19. Vercollone improved his personal best time in the event, breaking his own school record and moving up to 21st on the NCAA Division II provisional list.

Anthony Innamorati (Clinton, Massachusetts/Clinton) took home third in the pole vault with a mark of 15 feet, 3 inches. Innamorati cleared this height for a new school record, breaking his and Luke Byrnes height of 14 feet, 11 inches.

A trio of Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers), Riley Dowd (Peabody, Massachusetts/Peabody Veterans Memorial), and Alex Demeule (Merrimac, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) competed in the mile. Taxter clocked in at 4:08.87, good for 36th, while Dowd finished first in his heat and 43rd overall for a personal best time of 4:13.10. Demeule followed the trio, finishing 48th with a time of 4:14.91.

Freshman Hampton Boyd (Holliston, Massachusetts/Holliston) clocked in at 49.20 in the 400-meter dash, taking first in his heat and finishing eighth overall. Boyd ran a new personal best time and a Stonehill freshman record.

Stonehill will take some time off before sending a small group to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships which will take place from Friday, March 9-10 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas, hosted by Pittsburg State University.
